Juried International Book Art Exhibition

As part of satellite events, IMC2021 Nara will include Mokuhanga Ehon, Woodcut Printed Book Art Exhibition, alongside the conference. The dates are: Nov 23–Dec 5, 2021, but will be confirmed in July. We are closely following the possible changes to the COVID-19 situation.
The exhibition will be held independently at Kyoto Paradise Book Art Gallery in Kyoto. This small gallery is located in the vicinity of the Heian Shrine, the Kyoto Municipal Museum, and the famous Nanzenji Temple area. Kyoto Paradise has hosted book art and print exhibitions regularly since 2002. The gallery is located on the 2nd floor of Yamazaki Art Books store. See: www.artbooks.jp/english.html
Submission details are as follows.
Application time: August 1–31, 2021
Conditions: Both oil-based and water-based woodblock print books are eligible, also works made with mixed methods including woodcut. Only handmade books are accepted, Books that offend political or religious sensitivity will be excluded. Materials that smudge hands will be excluded.
Number of entries: 1 book or a set of books (i.e. part 1, part 2 bound together) per artist. Small works are preferred. Total dimensions of the book (height+width+thickness) should not exceed 70 cm.
Participation fee: JP¥5000 (45€ / 45 USD). Fees to be paid via PayPal or in cash at the gallery.
Acceptance announcement: September 15–17. Exhibition is juried by professional book artists. Decisions with detailed instructions will be sent by email.
